If you’re expecting a baby in the Plattsburgh or Clinton County area and you’ve started searching for a maternity photographer, I want you to feel like you’ve landed in the right place. I’m Katie Leavine, a lifestyle maternity, newborn, and family photographer based in Beekmantown, NY — just outside of Plattsburgh. My approach is built around calm, authentic sessions where you feel comfortable and cared for from the very first message.
What Sets a Lifestyle Maternity Session Apart
Lifestyle photography means we’re not working through a list of prescribed poses. Instead, I create space for real moments to unfold naturally — the way you rest your hands on your bump, a quiet look between you and your partner, the in-between seconds that define this season. My sessions feel more like a calm walk than a photo shoot. Most clients tell me they forget the camera is there within the first fifteen minutes.
Who I Serve
I photograph expecting mothers, families, and couples throughout Clinton County and beyond — including Plattsburgh, Beekmantown, Peru, Chazy, Champlain, Rouses Point, Keeseville, and Mooers. I also serve families across the Vermont border in Burlington, South Burlington, Essex Junction, and Colchester, and I regularly photograph sessions in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Malone, and throughout the Adirondack region.
What Happens From Inquiry to Gallery
Step 1 — Reach out
Fill out my contact form or send me an email. I’ll respond within 48 hours to check availability and learn a little about what you’re looking for.
Step 2 — We confirm the details
Once we’re a good fit, I’ll send over a simple contract and a retainer to hold your session date. We’ll talk through location ideas, timing, outfit questions, and anything else on your mind.
Step 3 — Your session
Sessions typically run 60 to 90 minutes. I’ll gently guide you throughout — you won’t need to know how to pose. We’ll simply spend time together in a beautiful location and let things unfold naturally.
Step 4 — Your gallery
You’ll receive a curated online gallery of fully edited images within three weeks of your session. Download, share, and print as much as you’d like — your photos are yours.
Where We Shoot Near Plattsburgh
The North Country has so many beautiful backdrops to work with. I love shooting at Lake Champlain, local farms and open meadows, wooded trails, and sweeping fields throughout Clinton County. If there’s a location that’s personally meaningful to your family, I’m always open to hearing about it. If you are not feeling an outdoor shoot I also have a beautiful private studio space.
A Note on Timing and Pricing
The ideal window for maternity sessions is between 28 and 36 weeks. I recommend booking when you’re between 14 and 20 weeks pregnant so your preferred dates are available. Yes — I travel at no extra charge within 45 minutes of my Beekmantown studio, which covers most of Clinton County and portions of Essex County, Franklin County, and across the Vermont border. For sessions beyond that range, I’m happy to discuss a travel arrangement.
